I can't believe I missed "Talk like a Pirate" Day!!!!!

Arrrrrrggghh! How did I not know this was happening?

Tuesday September 19th 2006 was Talk Like a Pirate Day! Talk Like a Pirate Day only comes once a year (on September 19th), this year it fell on a Tuesday. I wasn't ready, but I could have learned more about this international holiday on the About TLAPD page and practiced some phrases from the PiratePhrases page. Me thinks I'll be handed the BlackSpot now that the holiday is over!

Seriously, and I am serious!...., this has to be the greatest manufactured holiday ever, and I still can't believe I didn't know about it! How could you have more fun at work, or anywhere!, than talking like a pirate? And of course, talking like a pirate inevitably leads to dressing like a pirate, and thats always a good thing....

One thing be fer sure, ye can bet this holiday a be goin' on e'ery calendar Me own, and e'ery electronic one'll have a "be remindin me a week afore" tag upon it.

Here are some cool things about "Talk Like a Pirate Day":

Just for kicks, I tried out one of the "what's my pirate name" links and here is what I got. Not sure it's right, but it was fun getting here.

My pirate name is:

Mad Tom Flint

Every pirate is a little bit crazy. You, though, are more than just a little bit. Like the rock flint, you're hard and sharp. But, also like flint, you're easily chipped, and sparky. Arr!

Get your own pirate name from piratequiz.com.

If you are really serious about this holiday, watch this and be sure to take notes! You've got a year to practice!!

My friend the King Daddy Geek

King Daddy Geek
My Friend, the King Daddy Geek has started his blog on being a parent and a geek. I have to admit, his story about sharing his music with his kids is touching, and it does kinda give me sentimental shivers. But so does pulling up in my car next to the sixteen year old kid, while playing Papa Roach loudly through my speakers and getting the thumbs up from the kid. Either way, I guess what we want is approval from the younger generation.

The Konnoisseur Kitty!

My cat is so sophisticated! He only drinks Sauvignon Blanc, and only from France! He likes a greener, more dry wine, with light fruit notes on the backside.

Now that is a balanced diet!

Well, I guess this is what they mean by a balanced diet. It seems that according to my fitday.com calculator, my calorie intake for the past week has been divided almost evenly between the four food groups: Fat, Protein, Carbs and Alcohol.

Where did my Calories come from?

Average Calories

grams cals %total

Fat: 38 343 30%

Carbs: 65 246 21%

I've really got to get more fiber. Honey, where's the metamucil?

Elvis sighted at the Old Florida Fish House!

Saturday night, we went out to the Old Florida Fish House, which, interestingly enough, is a relatively new restaraunt/bar in Seagrove, just past Seaside, and just north of Rosemary Beach. We ate first at Basmati, an Asian fusion style restaraunt on 30-A in Grayton beach. Afterwards, we went to listen to a friend of ours sing at the Old Florida Fish house. While there, we were accosted by two cute girls making us drink Jagermeister shots and wear Jagermeister apparel. I'll keep those pictures to myself.

The reason why DINKS don't Blog so well...

Well, it's been 6+ months and I am just now posting to this blog again. I guess the DINK lifestyle isn't conducive to sitting around and putting little pieces of my mind and life on the web. Since the last post, I've pretty much been besotted with Christmas, New Years, Charity Fundraisers, and the general mayem of being a middle aged professional with no children. Anyhow, I thought I'd share a discovery I made today with everybody, because it seems like the thing to do. There is a website called fitday.com that you can start a free online dieting and health journal. The site helps you track your calorie, fat, carbs and protein intake, and lets you set goals for yourself, and create reports for your progress. I guess I can see how well I keep up with entering my activities there. I hope I'm more successful at that then I am at blogging!

I don't know why you would be, but if your interested, you can see my fitday journal here.
